Is the mechanical gimbal camera design enough to create a new revolution in smartphone filming or is it still just a direction for a few users?
HONOR is continuing to reveal more information about Robot Phone, a "robot phone"-oriented smartphone model that the company first introduced at MWC 2026. According to official information from HONOR and new promotional materials published in July 2026, Robot Phone focuses on a mechanical camera system capable of physical movement combined with AI to expand the ability to record and interact with users.
However, the list of configurations being widely shared on social networks and in the user community is not all confirmed by HONOR. Some parameters appearing in the image such as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 6.4 inch 1.5K screen, 6,000 mAh battery, 120 W fast charging, 200 MP main camera or 200 MP periscope camera still need to wait for the official launch ceremony to fully authenticate.
The point that has been confirmed by HONOR is that the Robot Phone uses a micro 4DoF mechanical gimbal system developed by the company, combining three-axis mechanical anti-vibration and AI to perform features such as

The biggest difference of Robot Phone lies in the fact that the camera is no longer fixed like a traditional smartphone but can move on its own to track subjects, support video calling, filming and creating cinematic effects. HONOR said this is an AI-oriented development that incorporates motion hardware, instead of just upgrading image processing algorithms like previous smartphone generations.
According to HONOR's announcement on July 18, 2026 at the WAIC 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Robot Phone has begun accepting pre-orders in China and the company will fully announce the product at the next launch event. The final specifications, price and distribution market have not yet been officially confirmed by HONOR.
