Huawei has just announced the MateBook Fold PC 2026 with a series of upgrades focusing on the factor that users are most concerned about so far: durability. Instead of just improving performance or design, Huawei invested heavily in screen materials and hinge structures to extend the lifespan of the folding device.
The most prominent feature lies in large-sized UTG ultra-thin glass technology combined with a composite material structure using non-Newtonian fluids. This material has the ability to change its properties when subjected to force, helping to absorb shock more effectively and reduce deformation when the screen continuously folds and opens.
According to Huawei, the new structure helps MateBook Fold 2026 increase screen impact resistance by about 90% and increase resistance to deformation when folded by 10 times compared to MateBook Fold 2025. This is a notable step forward for a device with a large folding screen.
The device is also announced to support about 500,000 touches with the stylus and achieves 5-star SGS Gold Label certification for impact resistance for the entire device screen. This shows that Huawei is targeting the product to a group of professional users who often use pens to take notes, design or edit content.
