Does a mouse that is only about 48g but has a PAW3955 Master sensor, 8000 Hz polling rate and 850 IPS tracking really make a difference in FPS, or is it still largely a parameter race where the player's skill decides the outcome?

ATK Gear has officially added the Blazing Sky X1 V2 Air+ to the X1 V2 esports mouse line. According to ATK's official product page, the Air+ version was announced with an opening schedule at 8:00 p.m. on July 21, 2026 PDT time. This is the lightest version in the current X1 V2 series and focuses directly on the FPS player group, where weight, latency and high-speed tracking are priorities.

The most notable point is the PAW3955 Master sensor. ATK confirms that X1 V2 Air+ supports maximum tracking speed of 850 IPS, 75G acceleration, DPI can reach 50,000 DPI when overclocked. Thus, the parameters 850 IPS and 75G appearing in the viral promotional content are consistent with ATK's official data.

8000 Hz is also one of the most important parameters for positioning of the X1 V2 Air+. ATK announced that the mouse supports 8000 Hz polling rate in both wired and 2.4 GHz wireless modes. In theory, 8000 Hz corresponds to the mouse being able to report its status to the computer up to 8,000 times per second, reducing the time between updates compared to the traditional 1000 Hz. However, high polling rate parameters do not mean players automatically aim more accurately. Actual effectiveness depends on CPU, high refresh rate screen, game, system settings and the player's own abilities.

Another interesting change lies in the weight of 48 g ± 3 g. In the same X1 V2 line, many other versions are announced by ATK around 55 g ± 3 g. Reducing the weight to about 48g helps Air+ lean more towards fast flicking, continuous direction changes and micro-adjusting in fast-paced FPS games.

In return, Air+ uses a 300 mAh battery, smaller than the 800 mAh on some other X1 V2 versions. ATK announces a maximum duration of about 300 hours at a polling rate of 1000 Hz. This number should not be understood as the duration of use when running continuously at 8000 Hz because ATK itself clearly states that the announced measurement conditions are 1000 Hz.

ATK is also equipped with the ApexShark Esports Firmware MAX firmware platform, introduced by the company to exploit MCU Nordic 54 and PAW3955 Master sensor. This is a notable part because the competition for gaming mice today is no longer just about the sensor. Firmware, signal processing, click latency, implementationPolling rate and wireless connectivity both affect the overall experience.

What is worth discussing is no longer whether the parameters are strong enough or not, because the official numbers are already very high, but rather how much the actual player feels the advantage of the 8000 Hz and new generation sensor compared to a well-optimized 1000 Hz or 2000 Hz mouse model.
